Sending a request on this site does not create a booking. A journey is confirmed only when we send you a written quote with dates, price, what is included, and payment and cancellation terms, and you accept it.
Prices depend on the experience, the season, group size and travel distance, and are quoted for each journey. Each quote shows how the payment is shared: 60% to your host family, 25% to a community project fund, and 15% to local guides, youth training and operations.
Before you book, check your government's travel advice for Mozambique (for example, the U.S. State Department, UK FCDO or Australia's Smartraveller). Some areas of northern Mozambique, including Cabo Delgado Province, the Niassa Special Reserve and the Memba and Eráti districts of Nampula, currently carry "do not travel" advice because of terrorism and kidnapping risk, and travel insurance may not cover them. We will tell you honestly about current conditions on your route, and we may change or cancel a journey if the situation changes.
You are responsible for your own passport, visa, vaccinations, health precautions and travel insurance.
Ask before taking photos of people, follow your host's guidance, and respect local customs. Hosts may end a visit if these are not respected.
Many images on this site are illustrations, not photographs of our host families or villages.
